The Faculty of Technology at Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL), is a vibrant hub of innovation, applied research, and technology-driven solutions. The faculty offers multidisciplinary degree programs under BBST in Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship, fostering graduates who are equipped to address real-world challenges through research, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking. Students are actively encouraged to develop novel technologies and business models that support sustainable societal development.
In 2023, the faculty successfully organized the International Conference on Technological Research and Innovation for the first time, providing an excellent platform for students and early-career researchers to disseminate their research findings and showcase innovative ideas.
Subsequently, in 2024 and 2025, the conferences primarily focused on addressing emerging technological needs for sustainable development, expanding the platform to include international participants and a wider range of research areas.
Building on this strong foundation, the faculty is organizing the 2026 international conference under the theme:
“Empowering Agri-Entrepreneurs through Technology and Innovation: Startups, Digital Agriculture, and Rural Innovation Ecosystems.”
This international conference aims to bring together researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, startups, and rural innovators from around the world to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore cutting-edge solutions for the agri-food sector. The conference will focus on strengthening agri-entrepreneurship, promoting sustainable and green innovations, enhancing value addition to agri and food products, and leveraging information technology and digital agriculture to transform rural economies.
Through keynote addresses, technical sessions, and collaborative discussions across key thematic tracks; Sustainable Agriculture and Green Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Rural Innovation Ecosystems, Value Addition to Agri and Food Products, and Information Technology and Digital Agriculture the conference seeks to foster impactful research, inspire innovation-driven enterprises, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable agricultural and rural development in Sri Lanka and beyond.
