About Faculty of Technology

about An introduction of new undergraduate programme into the Sri Lankan university system by establishing the Faculty of Technology will provide an avenue for those who are ambitious to work in the industry and/or pursue higher studies under the technology stream. The Faculty of Technology shall fulfil the mission of the University by building an educational system more suited to the technological needs of the country, which goes beyond the confines of the conventional knowledge systems. 

The Faculty of Technology at the Eastern University, Sri Lanka was established in 2017, which was originally initiated in 2014. Faculty of Technology (FOT) is the youngest faculty at the Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL). FOT has three departments at present namely, Department of Bio-System Technology (DBST), Department of Multi-Disciplinary Studies (DMDS) and Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). In addition to that, the faculty also working in establishing Department of Engineering Technology (DET).

The Faculty is offering one degree programme at the moment namely Bachelor of Biosystems Technology Honors (BBSTHonors) in Agriculture Technology and Entrepreneurship, which is a four-year programme. At the moment we enrolled about more than 500 students. In addition to that, the faculty ready to start another new degree programme of four year of study, Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology Honors (BICTHonors) with two more specializations – BICTHonors in Multimedia Designing Techniques and BICTHonors in Software Development Techniques.
